UCLA Community School Recognized by the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll
101 seniors have applied to the California State University; 80 to the University of California.
UCLA Community School has recently announced that 101 members of the senior class have successfully submitted their applications to the California State University, and 80 seniors have likewise applied to the University of California.
In addition, UCLA Community School has been doubly honored by the College Board with a place on its AP School Honor Roll and with a “Gold Access” award. Schools on the AP School Honor Roll are eligible to earn the AP Access Award, which recognizes schools that demonstrate a clear and effective commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework. The "Gold Access" award is a distinction earned by only 6% of eligible schools in the United States and Canada.
“Thanks to the leadership of English teacher Beth Trinchero, all 10th graders are enrolled in AP Seminar, an innovation we are studying with the help of UCLA undergraduate research interns,” says Karen Hunter Quartz, director of the UCLA Center for Community Schooling. “I expect this recognition to continue as the AP program has further expanded this year.”
