Last Updated March 14, 2022

UCLA School of Education & Information COVID-19 Facilities Plan & Safety Protocols

These protocols apply to general use of all School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) facilities, buildings, and spaces, which include Moore Hall, (G)SE&IS Bldg, and spaces in Math Sciences, and the Ueberroth Bldg. This Facilities & Safety Protocols Plan was developed in an effort to reduce COVID-19 transmission as we prepare for staff to begin to return-to-work on site and for faculty and students to return for on-site fall instruction.

This document is subject to change along with local, state, and federal guidance. On March 19, 2020 Los Angeles County (PDF) and the City of Los Angeles (PDF), among other nearby jurisdictions, ordered all residents to observe “Safer at Home” orders which are actions similar to those of other large metropolitan areas attempting to limit the spread of COVID-19. Educational institutions, like UCLA, are subject to these orders but are considered essential businesses. The School of Education & Information Studies will modify operations accordingly, with the exception of those that are essential and cannot be conducted remotely.

The most current information is available at UCLA’s COVID-19 websiteBruins Safe Online, UCLA COVID FAQs, and UCLA’s Twitter feed, which are all updated regularly. For questions about facilities protocols and building issues, please contact Support Services at ssu@seis.ucla.edu or 310-206-2459.

Standard Operating Procedures for Responding to COVID-19 Cases

The safety of our community members is of the upmost importance, so we ask that any UCLA community member who develops symptoms or receives a positive test result for COVID-19 is obligated to self-isolate and to contact the UCLA Infectious Disease Hotline at 310-267-3300 for faculty, staff and volunteers or the Ashe Center COVID-19 Hotline at 310-206-6217 for students. If you feel sick do not come to campus and call the UCLA COVID Call Center at 310-267-3300 for employees and Ashe Center Infection Control Line at 310-206-6217 for students.

The COVID-19 case dashboard (DOCX) keeps those on campus informed if they were present in a UCLA building where someone who tested positive for COVID-19 had been present.

Failure to follow all campus and Ed&IS policies may result in denial of access to the building and spaces and possible disciplinary action.

Preparing for Instruction During COVID: Fall 2021

Reminder that situations are changing daily. The plans are based on our most current information. The dashboard referenced below is not yet in operation for students (it is for faculty and staff).

Guiding Principles

  1. Be attentive to maintaining a healthy environment.
  2. Find ways to meet the needs of students and TAs when possible.
  3. Be prepared for students, TAs and instructors who contract COVID or need to quarantine.
  4. Flexibility is our mantra as likely health situations will vary across the quarter.
